How Two Love Birds Met and Became One!

I recently got married September 29, 2012 in Georgetown, TX to the man of my dreams.  I would love to share my story with you and hope you too will wait and pray hard like I did for just the "right one" to come your way! God knows what he is doing and when I decided to let go, and let God, that's when I met "THE ONE!"

About Jordan

I love life and love making people smile! I love waking up to the smell of coffee in the mornings and being around friends and family! I have been blessed beyond words! I have had the privilege and opportunity to be a part of such a prestigious, nationally known professional cheering team, The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. (DCC) It has contributed to my platform of being a positive role-model and helped to make me the person I am today.  Being a fan of smilers, I was immediately drawn into Chad by his constant and beautiful smile.  I love his silly humor, his ready smile, and I love talking to someone that listens to everything I have to say. (Whether it is important, relevant or not)  Chad is someone who puts others before himself and is a true servant!  I have to say that he is quite handsome!

About Chad

I grew up in Hobbs with Jordan.  She was three years younger, so I never really had the chance to interact with her, but I distinctly remember her sweet demeanor and constant, infectious smile that would light up a room.  I was blessed with five loving sisters and an amazing family!  Living with all those women definitely taught me invaluable things.  After high school, I attended Texas A&M and studied Finance.  While serving in the Army National Guard, I spent some time in Colorado, New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina, and Romania.  Over the past 5 years, I have stayed busy selling real estate in Hobbs and Midland and opening a Sport Clips.  When Jordan and I reconnected at a wedding in Hobbs, I had this instant attraction and unexplainable feeling toward her.  After talking and catching up, I was so impressed by the loving heart that I had always imagined  she had.  I knew I had found the one that I couldn’t live without.  I’m currently finishing my Master’s  Degree at Texas A&M and cannot wait to make Jordan my wife.

How we met

Chad and I grew up in Hobbs together with our families being friends.  His sister Tiffany and I took dance together and I was over at her house often.  There were 5 girls and 1 boy roaming in and out of their house.  I loved being over there, and I especially loved seeing Chad.  I was 3 years younger, but that didn't stop me from having a crush on him.  I once told his sister when we were in grade school that he "had a cute face for a boyfriend!"  I never ever thought our paths would cross in 2011 in a very fun and exciting event. (Glad Laura & JB had such a fabulous rehearsal dinner & wedding reception) Some memories are indelible and the memory of that weekend was just that! I felt my life taking a drastic turn in another direction and had a vision of Chad being a part of it.  Turns out the feeling was mutual.  The vision and dream is becoming a reality as we plan for our future together.

How we got engaged

We were vacationing in Puerto Rico and it was our second day,  March 12, 2012.  After spending the day in Old San Juan, we went back to the room to "get ready" for dinner and visit Fort El Morro. I laid 3 options of dresses to wear and told Chad to pick, so he picked the long white one out and he too wore white. Haha we looked like we were possibly going to have our beach wedding here or something. Anyway, the name of the fort is El Castllo De San Felipe Del  Morro. It's 400 years old and has never been defeated by naval attack. As we entered the fort along with all the other tourists we saw breath taking views of the ocean and ancient architecture!  We walked to the top of the fort facing the ocean, there was a man being filmed  playing the violin. At first my reaction was that he was filming something for his blog/website or just trying to make tips. Then Chad tried to get me to walk over there and I didn't want to get in the way of their filming so I pulled him back away. I soon recognized the song he was playing and looked at Chad and said "that's our song" (the song I will walk down the aisle to) then it hit me and I realized this was for us and asked Chad if it was, and he said yes it's for us. Then as all the people were watching (around 30 people) Chad began to tell me how much he loved me and said that this fort took over 200 years to build and is still standing strong and that marriage takes a lot of work but will be strong with effort and undefeatable. He said it won't be easy but will do whatever it takes to make me happy! He said other things but I can't remember all of it because I was getting so EXCITED! Before I know it, he is down on one knee asking me to marry him! I said YES! While I was jumping up and down. Then everyone started clapping and the camera lady handed me a bouquet of flowers and started taking pictures of us all over the fort!! I am so blessed to have a man who is creative and thinks of every little detail! Cameras with video, violins, flowers, an amazing setting in Puerto Rico, and of course the perfect RING! It couldn't have been more romantic and perfect!!!!!!

Chad had to have a lot of faith in "Puertoricans" whom he had never met to be there to capture this memorable moment! After I finally picked my outfit out, Chad emailed the photographer what we had on so they could recognize us and know when to start playing the music.  He also emailed a YouTube video of the song to the violinist to learn over the weekend. God is good and on Chads side because this was the perfect proposal!

Today Is My Brother Brett's Birthday and I would like to honor him by posting his notorious Pumpkin Roll!  He brings this every year to our Thanksgiving meal and I can't get enough of it.  I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Add 1 cup of sugar
Beat again
Add:
2/3 cup pumpkin
1tsp salt
1tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Combine and beat

Grease cookie sheet (must be 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1)

spread mixture on wax paper
bake 18 minutes @350 degrees

While baking, cover a tea towel (a very thin towel used for bread) with powder sugar using a sifter

Take pan the out of oven and let it fall on to the tea towel.  Peel off wax paper.  Roll up in powder sugar covered tea towel and put it in the fridge for 1 hour.

To make filling:
1 8oz cream cheese
1tsp vanilla
2 tsbls softned butter
1 cup powder sugar

Mix above ingredients
Take out pumpkin roll and unroll
Spread filling on flattened roll and roll back up and cover in foil and refrigerate for another hour and
ENJOY!

My brother like to roll his tight and will say, "mines the best!" and I like to roll mine not so tight, so I can have a more "cakey" feel. So, roll as you please, just don't roll anything else ;) hehe

Happy Birthday Brett! I love you!
